FAQ

  • Do I have to do both days or can I just participate on one?

The Book Trail is 100% self-guided, so it’s totally up to you when and where you want to start. All you need is a Trail Map!

  • Where do I get a trail map?

There are three ways you can get a trail map:

    1. Download and print one at home using the PDF file here.

    2. Pick one up at the Saturday morning kickoff at Mañana Dos. (While supplies last!)

    3. Visit a participating bookstore during the trail weekend. Depending on their bandwidth, they may or may not have trail maps printed and available for pickup. (We’d recommend calling ahead to make sure!)

  • Do I have to buy anything to get my map stamped?

Nope. Our goal is that you’ll use the weekend as a chance to learn about all the bookstores Austin has to offer, so we’re happy if all you do is discover a new bookstore to shop at later. (But buying books and supporting shops is always preferred!)

  • Will there be anything special happening at the bookstores?

It depends on the bookstore! Check out our digital map for all details on daily perks and programming at each store.

  • What do I get for visiting stores? Is there a prize?

Each trailmapped store visit = one entry into our raffle. So, if you visit 10 stores this weekend and get your map marked, you have 10 chances to win one of the three raffle prize book bundles.

  • How do I enter the raffle?

You can find the raffle submission form here. And don't throw away your trail map! You'll need to submit a photo if you win.

  • Where can I buy a poster?

We’ll have posters and tote bags for sale at the Saturday 4/12 kickoff at Mañana Dos and the Sunday 4/13 afterparty at Community Garden (if we don’t sell out).

  • Where do I park for the Saturday morning kickoff?

Parking at Mañana Dos (111 Sandra Muraida Way suite #101) is validated for up to 1 hour in the Gables Park Tower Garage. Paid street parking is available on Electric Dr and Sandra Muraida Way.

  • Where do I park for the Sunday night afterparty?

There is (limited) lot parking in front of Community Garden (1401 Cedar Ave Unit 2), as well as free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Who organizes this?

The Book Trail is entirely volunteer-run and self-financed by two booksellers/community organizers in Austin. Come to the 4/12 kickoff or 4/13 afterparty to say hi! :)
